Tayla Mirfin

Biography:

Tayla Mirfin is the Lead Cosmetic Scientist at The Stellenbosch Nanofiber Company in Cape Town, South Africa, where she specializes in the development of innovative waterless nanofiber skincare and cosmetic technologies. With a background in Western Herbal Medicine and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Nanoscience, Tayla has spent the past five years working within the nanofiber industry, developing both cosmetic and medical nanofiber-based products. She has been instrumental in the development of the Nanodrop/Nanopillow platform - a polymeric nanofiber delivery system engineered to encapsulate and protect sensitive skincare actives from degradation caused by water and light exposure, while also addressing solubility limitations and removing the need for conventional preservatives and stabilizers. When she’s not immersed in formulation science, she enjoys creative pursuits and firmly believes that innovation, much like skincare formulation, often requires patience, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace a little trial and error.
