Abstract:
Female pattern hair loss(FPHL) describes a pattern of hair loss in females which results in subsequent thinning of the hair mostly in the frontoparietal region and is associated with susequent morbidty to the patients. There are various causes of FPHL, age, changes in the androgen hormones and genetic being the most important factors. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy alone as a monotherapy or in cobination with topical minoxidil has shown to be a novel approach in treating Cases of FPHL. PRP contains various anti inflammatory cytokines and growth factors which help prevent hair loss, promote regeneration and proliferation of hair follicles. We present a case series of FPHL who presented to the Clinic with treatment of PRP showing positive results. The presentation discusses on the number of treatment cycles, resnponse to treatment, vellus hair regrowth and hair density increment. Various adjuvant therapies will also be discussed along with various modalities of treatment including injections and microneedling techniques used.
