Abstract
About this talk
Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is the most prevalent chronic inflammatory skin disease worldwide, imposing a significant biopsychosocial burden on both pediatric and adult patients. For decades, the management of moderate to severe forms was limited to nonspecific immunosuppression or slow-acting biologics; however, precision medicine has burst onto the clinical scene, transforming the standard of care. In the last two years (2023-2024), the AAAAI/ACAAI and AAD guidelines have formalized a therapeutic paradigm shift driven by targeted inhibition of the JAK-STAT pathway. Given the rapid expansion of systemic and topical formulations and the emergence of multiple systematic reviews, there is a critical need to synthesize the current evidence on the efficacy and safety of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKIs), consolidating their role as a disruptive alternative in modern dermatology.
