Title : Dual-action approach to acne scar treatment: PLLA and HA synergy
Abstract:
Title: Synergistic Role of PLLA and HA in Acne Scar Management: A Comprehensive Approach
Background: Acne scars are a challenging aesthetic and medical concern, often requiring multimodal treatment strategies to achieve optimal results. Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) are widely recognized for their collagen-stimulating and volumizing properties, respectively. This study explores the combined application of PLLA and HA for acne scar management, emphasizing their synergistic effects on collagen remodeling and skin rejuvenation.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination therapy using PLLA and HA in treating atrophic acne scars and improving overall skin texture.
Methods: This study involved patients with moderate to severe atrophic acne scars. PLLA was injected in a diluted form to stimulate collagen production and improve skin structure, while HA was used to provide immediate volumization and hydration. Treatments were performed over a series of sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Efficacy was assessed through standardized scar grading scales, patient satisfaction surveys, and dermoscopic imaging.
Results: Patients experienced significant improvement in scar depth, skin texture, and overall appearance. The combination of PLLA and HA demonstrated superior results compared to monotherapy, with enhanced collagen synthesis and immediate skin plumping effects. No severe adverse events were reported, and patients expressed high levels of satisfaction.
Conclusion: The combination of PLLA and HA offers a safe and effective approach to managing atrophic acne scars. By leveraging the complementary mechanisms of collagen induction and hydration, this dual therapy provides both immediate and long-term improvements in skin quality. This study highlights the potential of PLLA and HA as a synergistic treatment modality for acne scars, paving the way for advanced facial rejuvenation techniques.
