Title : The efficacy of PDO for hair growth

Abstract:

Introduction: Polydioxanone (PDO) threads have become an emerging trend for facial rejuvenation. The entire basis of the thread lift technique is the foreign body cutaneous response to the presence of threads within the skin. Androgenetic alopecia may result in disturbed self-perception and psychosocial interaction. Various treatment modalities like oral finasteride, topical minoxidil and platelet rich plasma (PRP) have been tried with good therapeutic benefit.

What will audience learn from your presentation?
The purpose of this participation is to provide the aesthetic clinician with information about the efficacy of the Polydioxanone Threads for Hair Regrowth. PDO is a known absorbable FDA-cleared synthetic suture and surgical scaffold material that stimulates endogenous collagen production, elastin, hyaluronic acid as well as activates fibroblasts. PDO (polydioxanone) threads have been used in aesthetic medicine for years for rejuvenation of skin, skin tightening, skin lifting, and wrinkle reduction. Hair regrowth in patients with hair loss from androgenetic alopecia has been observed in patients who had PDO threads inserted into their scalps. The outcomes, side effects, contraindications, and mechanism of action of PDO threads' stimulation of hair growth will also be covered.
