Abstract
About this talk
Atrophic acne scars represent a common and therapeutically challenging condition in cosmetic dermatology, frequently associated with long-term impact on skin quality and self-esteem. Due to the multifactorial nature of scar formation, isolated treatment modalities often provide limited improvement. Combination-based approaches targeting different skin layers have demonstrated more consistent and clinically meaningful outcomes. This presentation describes clinical experience using microneedling radiofrequency associated with collagen biostimulators as an integrated strategy for the treatment of atrophic acne scars. The proposed approach is based on the synergistic effects of controlled dermal injury induced by microneedling radiofrequency and the stimulation of neocollagenesis promoted by injectable collagen biostimulators. Microneedling radiofrequency enables precise thermal delivery to the dermis, contributing to scar remodeling, skin tightening, and texture improvement, while minimizing epidermal damage. Collagen biostimulators were incorporated to enhance dermal regeneration, improve skin firmness, and sustain long-term results.
Patients presenting with moderate to severe atrophic acne scars underwent individualized treatment protocols, with parameters adjusted according to scar morphology, skin thickness, and clinical tolerance. Progressive improvement in scar depth, skin texture, and overall skin quality was observed throughout the treatment course. In addition to objective clinical changes, patients reported high satisfaction levels, improved self-confidence, and enhanced perception of skin uniformity. The procedures were well tolerated, with no significant adverse events when appropriate protocols were followed.
This presentation highlights the relevance of combination-based strategies in the management of atrophic acne scars, emphasizing individualized planning and regenerative principles. The integration of energy-based devices with injectable collagen biostimulators represents a practical, safe, and effective approach aligned with current trends in evidence-informed and regenerative cosmetic dermatology.
