Teledermatology (TD) is a dermatology specialization that employs information and communication technology to diagnose, treat, prevent, research, and educate patients from a distance. Telecommunication techniques are employed in this industry to transfer medical information over long distances through audio, visual, and data communication. It is currently revolutionizing the understanding of medicine, imposing new standards on doctors, and requiring all doctors to rethink their new roles in medicine. TD is the new approach of how dermatology will be practiced in the future. Although it cannot replace traditional medicine, it is the only option to manage populations that are growing exponentially. Face-to-face consultations with each patient will be impossible, especially during the pandemic and also due to a stagnant number of dermatologists worldwide and their skewed urban clustering.
